“Blackout”, The Sound Piece

This sound piece is an experiment that Rossella Biscotti and Tarek Atoui are conducting. It unfolds over the duration of the exhibition where nine musicians are invited to work according to the following instructions:

- compose a single channel piece that is precisely 2:00 minutes long

- use one or several terms in the wordbook, given by the artists

- take the composition of the previous musician as your only source material

The sound piece will be displayed in two modes:

 
on a mono speaker where all contributions are synchronized and played simultaneously in loop

on a set of headphones where the audience can hear each contribution individually.
